What you actually work through
across eight sessions
Each module builds on the previous one. You bring your own footage from week three onward — no stock clips, no shortcuts.

Editing software fundamentals
Interface orientation, project setup, media management. We use DaVinci Resolve 18 — free version covers everything in this module.

Assembly cut and story structure
Laying down all usable takes, building a rough timeline, identifying the narrative spine before any fine cutting begins.

Pacing, rhythm, and cut points
When to cut and why — matching action, J-cuts, L-cuts, and the difference between cutting on emotion versus cutting on motion.

Audio editing and dialogue sync
Syncing dual-system audio, cleaning dialogue tracks, adding music beds without drowning the voice — practical mix for delivery.

Color correction and basic grading
Primary correction, exposure matching across clips, a simple LUT workflow, and knowing when the grade is actually finished.

Export, delivery formats, and review
Codec choices for web, broadcast, and client delivery. Final project review with group feedback in the last live session.
Session format
Every week includes a 90-minute live broadcast followed by a hands-on assignment. Recordings stay accessible for the full program duration.

A realistic picture of where most people start
Before the program
- Spending hours on the timeline without a clear assembly strategy — cutting and re-cutting the same sequence.
- Audio and video out of sync after export, or dialogue that disappears under background music.
- Color that looks fine on your monitor but shifts noticeably on any other screen or device.

The weekly
schedule
Sessions run on Thursdays at 19:00 Kyiv time. The first week is orientation — no prior editing experience required.

Software setup and first import
Getting DaVinci Resolve configured correctly from day one. Media management habits that prevent the usual project-file disasters later on.
Weeks 2–3
Assembly and story logic
Working with provided footage in week two, then your own material in week three. The focus is on building a complete rough cut rather than perfecting individual cuts.
Weeks 4–5
Pacing and audio work
Refining the cut — tightening timing, adding transitions where they serve the story, and building a clean audio mix. The two topics are covered together because they affect each other constantly.
Weeks 6–7
Color and finishing
Primary correction across the whole timeline, a simple creative grade, and preparing the project for export. We look at common mistakes that make a grade fall apart on client screens.
Week 8
Final project review
Each participant presents their finished edit. Group feedback, specific notes on what works and what to revisit. The session is recorded and shared with everyone who enrolled. More about the format on the program page.
